Bodybuilders in the sport often go to extreme lengths to be competitive. One common practice is the use of anabolic steroids to achieve a shredded physique for the stage. However, sometimes this can be taken to excessive levels, resulting in adverse side effects. In a recent YouTube video by the International Federation of Bodybuilding and Fitness (IFBB), renowned bodybuilding coach Milos Sarcev, along with IFBB Pros Jose Raymond and Chris Tuttle, shared crazy stories of gyno surgery mishaps.
Milos Sarcev is a highly respected figure in the bodybuilding world, with decades of experience as a competitor and coach. He first gained attention for his massive build after winning the Mr. Universe title in 1989. Throughout the 90s, he had a successful career as a Men’s Open competitor, participating in several Mr. Olympia contests. After retiring, he became a prolific coach, guiding many elite contenders, including Samson Dauda, seven-time 212 Olympia winner Flex Lewis, and Flex Wheeler.
Earlier this year, Sarcev highlighted the risks of dehydration from overusing diuretics for competitions. He argued against rewarding extreme dryness and cautioned against coaches pushing more diuretics on their athletes. Sarcev shared his experiences of helping athletes who nearly passed away due to dehydration and stressed the need for a balanced approach to judging.
Sarcev suggested that Mamdouh ‘Big Ramy’ Elssbiay, a former two-time Mr. Olympia, skip the 2023 Mr. Olympia. He believes that Ramy needs to take some time off to regain muscle and revamp his physique after losing the title in the previous edition.
In a separate instance, Sarcev praised rising Classic Physique competitor Stephane Matala for his impressive upper body muscle development. He stated that he had never seen a chest as striated as Matala’s and believed he could present a tough challenge to reigning four-time Classic Physique Olympia champion Chris Bumstead. While he ranked Bumstead’s structure better, Sarcev favored Matala in a muscle-for-muscle comparison.
Sarcev backed Hadi Choopan, the 2022 Mr. Olympia, and former 212 Olympia champion Derek Lunsford as the favorites going into the 2023 Mr. Olympia. He praised Lunsford’s impressive back but believed that with the right improvements, his pupil, ‘The Nigerian Lion,’ could secure the Olympia title.
Retired bodybuilding veteran Jose Raymond also shared some insights. Two months ago, he laid out some of the biggest mistakes an athlete and coach could make during contest prep. He argued against pushing competitors to extreme lengths to display striated glutes and following a low-carb diet for an extended period.
In the YouTube video, Milos Sarcev, Jose Raymond, and Chris Tuttle shared their own crazy stories of gyno surgery mishaps. Tuttle recounted the time when he asked his father, who had never performed a gyno surgery before, to operate on him. He described the experience of being awake during the surgery and feeling the tissue being cut out. Sarcev shared a story of a bodybuilder who lost his nipples due to a gyno surgery accident performed by an inexperienced surgeon. Raymond mentioned a story he heard about Roelly Winklaar getting the surgery done in his hotel room by someone without proper qualifications.
Sarcev also voiced his disapproval of modern bodybuilders not competing regularly at shows. He called on promoters to raise prize money to attract more athletes and attributed the lack of sponsors as a contributing factor.
Based on these comical stories, it is evident that consulting with a professional for gyno surgery is crucial to avoid the risk of losing nipples and other side effects.
