Olivia Reeves: Rising Star in American Weightlifting

Olivia Reeves, a 20-year-old weightlifter, has emerged as one of the most promising athletes in the sport. Despite her young age, she has already made a name for herself by competing against older women and achieving remarkable results. At the 2023 World Weightlifting Championships, Olivia not only claimed a bronze medal but also set new Clean & Jerk and Total U71KG Junior World Records.

Olivia’s career has been on an upward trajectory in recent years, establishing herself as a valuable asset for the USA. Her recent Clean & Jerk of 142 kilograms (313 pounds) has earned her the U71KG Junior World Record, surpassing Sara Ahmed’s previous record by 1 kilogram (2.2 pounds). Similarly, Olivia’s new U71KG Total World Record of 253 kilograms (557.8 pounds) is also 1 kilogram (2.2 pounds) heavier than the previous record held by Sara Ahmed.

Olivia Reeves’ Full Performance at the 2023 World Weightlifting Championships was flawless. She executed all six of her lifts successfully, leaving no room for error. This impeccable performance allowed her to set two new Junior World Records and also break the Senior American National Records for Clean & Jerk and Total. Her snatch lifts were 105 kilograms (231.5 pounds), 108 kilograms (238 pounds), and 111 kilograms (244.7 pounds), while her clean & jerk lifts were 133 kilograms (293.2 pounds), 138 kilograms (304.2 pounds), and 142 kilograms (313 pounds). Her total weight lifted was 253 kilograms (557.8 pounds).

Finishing behind only two older athletes, Olivia Reeves proved her dominance in the 71-kilogram weight class. She outperformed Katherine Vibert, an iconic weightlifter from the USA, by 9 kilograms (19.8 pounds). This solidified her position as the nation’s top athlete in her weight category.

Olivia’s biggest achievement to date was winning the 2021 Junior World Championships. However, her recent success in setting two new Junior World Records has further solidified her status as a rising star. With her continuous improvement, she is on track to challenge China’s Liao Guifang at the 2024 Olympic Games. This potential rivalry promises to deliver incredible performances and captivate the audience.

Olivia Reeves’ remarkable achievements in weightlifting have garnered attention and admiration. As she continues to excel, the world eagerly awaits her future endeavors in the sport.
